The impact of transformational leadership in crisis management

Abstract

Crises in the business world are not a new phenomenon; however, in recent decades they have become increasingly frequent and in shorter periods of time. The objective of this study is to establish the relationship between transformational leadership and crisis management in service organizations in the Surcolombian region. For this purpose, a quantitative research was carried out using the deductive and correlational method. A non-probabilistic sampling by convenience was used in which 308 questionnaires with a Likert-type scale were applied to collaborators at the operative and managerial levels of service organizations. The constructs of transformational leadership and crisis management obtained acceptable levels of confidence (Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability) and discriminant and convergent validity (mean variance extracted and factor loadings). The hypothesized model was evaluated through structural equations obtaining as a result a positive and significant relationship between the two variables (0.587; p < 0.00). In conclusion, the results obtained contribute to understanding the scope and importance of transformational leadership in the management of the crisis caused by Covid-19 in service organizations in the Surcolombian region.
