Abstract

Currently, young university students exposed to unhealthy lifestyles have been a population of research interest within the field of physical activity for health. In line with this, the present study multidimensionally analyzes the lifestyle, physical exertion, and mood produced by performing a specific physical exercise. The sample consists of young university students who perform strength training based on average propulsive velocity, with percentages of velocity loss. This was a quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational study. The FANTASTICO questionnaire was used to determine participants' lifestyle during their first training session, the EVEA scale was used to identify their pre- and post-session mood, and heart rate was recorded throughout the session. As a result, on the first day of training, the "good work" lifestyle was the most prevalent response rate on the questionnaire, as a percentage. Subjects with a better lifestyle achieved lower levels of physical exertion in the first training session, identifying a negative relationship with a Pearson's r of -0.747 and a p-value of 0.013. In the second session, the significance of the relationship decreased. In conclusion, the "good work" lifestyle was predominant among university students. This is relevant, as a clear relationship was identified between lifestyle and the physical exertion achieved by the subjects.
