Digital preservation policy

The journal Humanidades, Tecnología y Educación (HUTECEDU) reaffirms its commitment to the digital preservation of all its contents. To this end, it has implemented a number of specific measures which are detailed below.

1. Use of the Open Journal Systems (OJS): Humanities, Technology and Education (HUTECEDU) uses the platform Open Journal Systems for the integral management of its publications. This tool not only optimizes the editorial process, but also contributes to the safe and efficient digital preservation of all published content.

2. Assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI): Each article published in HUTECEDU receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), managed through Crossref. This persistent identifier ensures accurate localization, proper citation and academic recognition of the content.

3. PKP Preservation Network (PKP Preservation Network): HUTECEDU is part of the PKP Preservation Network, a free service that ensures long-term digital preservation through the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) system developed by Stanford University. This infrastructure ensures the permanent and secure storage of the journal’s archives.

4. Open Access Policy: In line with its mission to democratize knowledge, HUTECEDU adopts an open access policy. All content is available free of charge to users, with no access restrictions or download costs, thus promoting broad dissemination of knowledge and global academic exchange.

The HUTECEDU magazine ensures the preservation of its digital content using LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), a system that distributes multiple copies of the material in different locations, ensuring their availability and protection against failures or data loss.

In addition to LOCKSS, HUTECEDU magazine participates in the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) network, a global dark archive that provides robust and secure backup, ensuring that the magazine content is available even if an irreversible loss of original access occurs

The HUTECEDU magazine is included in the DSpace Hulago Institutional Repository of the University of Pamplona, which guarantees the preservation, open access and permanent visibility of its contents. This repository complies with international interoperability standards such as OAI-PMH, allowing articles to be collected by academic searchers and research networks worldwide.

Authors are free to have the article self-archived on various platforms according to their preferences, such as their personal website, institutional repository, thematic repository or other appropriate media.
