Abstract

The main objective of this research study was to characterize the anxiety levels of the gymnasts from the Titanes team before competition, in order to identify the most relevant traits of these athletes and to compare them with findings from other studies, such as those by Jose Fernando Valdez, Yago Ramis, Miquel Torregrosa, Carme Viladrich, and Jaume Cruz, which examined competitive anxiety in beginner sports and the relationship between different types of anxiety. This study was conducted in the city of Duitama with a gymnastics and cheerleading team composed of 24 athletes, aged between 11 and 16 years, including both genders. The research followed a quantitative approach with a descriptive scope and a non-experimental design, developed in an initial phase. The significance of this type of study lies in the need to understand the influence of psychological factors on athlete development and sports performance.
