Mental health, well-being, and school leadership in coordinating teaching directors: reflections from the experience of the konexión vital collective in the capital district

Abstract

This reflection article analyzes the trajectory of the Konexión Vital collective in generating and disseminating knowledge related to school leadership, mental health, and the well-being of School Administrative Coordinators in the Capital District of Bogotá; The study emerges in response to increasing challenges associated with school leadership, including excessive workload, role ambiguity, and unhealthy organizational climates. These conditions have been associated with emotional exhaustion, work-related stress, and a decline in professional well-being among school leaders; The analysis is based on the systematization of the collective’s research and academic experience developed between 2017 and 2025, including participation in research networks, academic events, collaborative projects, and knowledge production processes related to educational leadership and mental health in schools. Based on this trajectory, the article presents the Multilevel Model for Supporting School Leadership, Mental Health, and Well-Being of School Administrative Coordinators, which integrates preventive, institutional, group-based, and individualized strategies aimed at strengthening self-care, emotional management, and conscious leadership within school communities; Finally, the article reflects on the main achievements, lessons learned, and future challenges of the collective, highlighting its potential contribution to educational research and to the development of policies focused on school leaders’ well-being.
