Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Edit the article using the Bistua template (Word or Latex). If you do not use the template, you must ensure that the manuscript is edited with 1.5 point spacing; 12 point font size; use italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses), and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end. The structure of the article must contain Title in Spanish and English, summary, abstract, introduction, method and materials, results and discussion, conclusions, references.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • In the "COMMENTS FOR THE EDITOR" field, I entered information from three (3) possible peer reviewers (FULL NAME, EDUCATION, EMAIL CONTACT, INSTITUTIONAL AFFILIATION.) and that they are not affiliated with the authors' institution.
  • Area in which we can classify the article:
    Biology - Microbiology, Physics, Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Applied Basic Sciences.

Reviewer Commitments:

  • Evaluate only articles within your area of expertise, always with the utmost objectivity.
  • Article assessment should be constructive and expressed using appropriate and respectful language. The goal is to always help authors improve their articles.
  • Maintain anonymity. Articles are confidential and should not be shown to anyone, not even to seek advice or opinions from other expert colleagues.
  • Comments to the Editor and those directed at the authors should be consistent. If a rejection is recommended to the Editor, this should also be reflected or implied in the comments to the authors, to avoid discrepancies between the decision communicated to the authors and the comments provided.
  • Timeliness in delivering evaluations. BISTUA adheres to tight evaluation and publication timelines; respecting these timelines is necessary for the smooth functioning of the journal.
