About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Research and Praxis in Social Sciences aims to disseminate high-impact research, extending beyond local boundaries to reach a national and international audience, including researchers, educators, and students. The journal is dedicated to scientific studies in the field of social sciences, promoting academic interaction at both national and international levels. It also focuses on research outputs generated by the academic community that constitutes it. Topics covered include: Gender sociology and the feminist movement, Social inequalities, classes, and social structure, Social movements and collective action, Sociology of art and culture, Media and the impact of ICT on social relations, Social research methodologies, Racism and migration.

Published on a semiannual basis with national and international coverage, the journal provides a platform for knowledge exchange among academics and researchers from various backgrounds and sectors. In addition to disseminating research advancements and different social research approaches, the journal also fosters interdisciplinary collaboration in response to the challenges academia faces in a global context.

In addition to original research articles, the journal also publishes review articles that analyze the current state of social sciences, identify emerging trends, and suggest possible future directions in developing areas. Submitted manuscripts must be research papers, reviews, or critical reflections and should be presented in both Spanish and English for subsequent peer evaluation.

The journal's editorial management is led by the Vice-Rectorate for Research at the University of Pamplona, under the direction of Ph.D. Hugo Alexander Vega Riaño, aiming to establish it as a publication of scientific excellence. Supported by an editorial board composed of nationally and internationally recognized experts, the journal reaffirms its commitment to making a significant impact on the academic community.

Submission and Publication Fees – Free Access

The Journal of Research and Praxis in Social Sciences is an Open Access publication that does not charge any fees for the arbitration and publication process, including review, layout, printing, and distribution (APCs). As an open-access journal, no fees apply for article consultation or downloads.

Plagiarism Detection

Through the use of Turnitin software, licensed by the University of Pamplona, the RIPCS journal conducts a thorough analysis of plagiarism and self-plagiarism to ensure the originality of submitted manuscripts. The journal editor registers each author’s document in this online tool, ensuring a transparent and rigorous evaluation process.

Digital Preservation Policy and Uniform Identifier Usage

The Praxis Journal ensures digital preservation of its contents through the efficient use of Open Journal Systems (OJS). All published articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), a persistent identifier managed by Crossref, which guarantees long-term accessibility and publication traceability.

Additionally, the journal is part of the PKP Preservation Network (PKP-PN), where its contents are securely stored using the LOCKSS system, developed by Stanford University Library. This digital preservation infrastructure ensures a permanent and reliable archive for the journal, protecting information access against potential digital losses or deterioration.

The Praxis Journal currently operates on Open Journal Systems 3.3.0.11. All published articles use DOI identifiers, which are managed and registered within the OJS system.

Interoperability Protocol

The journal not only implements advanced interoperability protocols such as OAI-PMH (Open Archive Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) but also ensures that its contents are easily accessible and reusable by a wide range of distribution systems, including digital repositories, aggregators (harvesters), and academic search engines.

Through integration with systems such as LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, the journal guarantees long-term preservation and continuous access to its published issues, providing greater security for readers and institutions interested in preserving information. Additionally, the journal offers detailed, high-quality metadata, facilitating indexation and visibility on global platforms, contributing to knowledge exchange and expanding its academic impact.

The University of Pamplona is the publishing entity that, through budget allocations for periodicals, sponsors the journal under the responsibility of the Vice-Rectorate for Research.
