Digital Preservation Policy

The journal  Investigación & Praxis en Ciencias Sociales (RIPCS) is committed to ensuring the digital preservation of its content. Below are the main measures adopted:

  1. Use of Open Journal System (OJS): RIPCS uses OJS to efficiently manage its publications and ensure the digital preservation of its content.

  2. Assignment of Digital Object Identifier (DOI): Each article published in RIPCS is assigned a DOI, providing a persistent identifier managed by Crossref. This facilitates the unique identification and citation of articles within the academic community.

  3. PKP Preservation Network: RIPCS benefits from the free digital preservation services provided by the PKP Preservation Network. The journal’s files are stored in LOCKSS, a system developed by the Stanford University Library, ensuring a permanent and secure archive.

  4. Open Access Policy: RIPCS follows an open access policy, meaning that its content is freely available to all users without access or download fees. This policy promotes the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of the journal's content.

The journal RIPCS ensures the preservation of its digital content using LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), a system that distributes multiple copies of the material across different locations, ensuring its availability and protection against data failures or loss.

In addition to LOCKSS, the journal RIPCS participates in the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) network, a global dark archive that provides a robust and secure backup, ensuring that the journal’s content remains available even in the event of irreversible loss of original access.

Authors are free to make their article available for self-archiving on various platforms according to their preferences, such as their personal website, institutional repository, subject-specific repository, or other appropriate means.
