Art and symbolic dysfunction: findings when drawing with the right hemisphere of the brain

In this research, expanded states of consciousness and other practices were induced and encouraged: exploring breathing, meditating, contemplating, to reinforce sensory-motor-rational synchrony. Beyond bringing concepts from various disciplines into tension, the purpose here is to invite dialogue with other ways of seeing the world and to make the way we inhabit it more fluid and plural. The sample consists of young people with mild cognitive special educational needs and the evolution of thought and symbolic function. Betty Edwards' method of drawing with the right hemisphere privileges the visual to imitate reality.
