Author's Guidelines
GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
ARTICLE SUBMISSION
General parameters: The article must be presented on letter-size paper (21.5 x 28.0 cm); double-spaced; margins: 4 cm on the left, and 3 cm on the other sides; page numbers: on all pages, in the bottom right corner; font: Times New Roman; font size: 12.
Headings: The following headings should be aligned to the left and written in uppercase: Title in Spanish and English, Author’s Name, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, Conflicts of Interest, References, and Annexes. All other headings and subheadings should be aligned to the left, in lowercase with only the first letter capitalized.
Maximum article length: 30 pages.
Title: Short but informative, limited to 15 words. Centered in uppercase.
Authors' names: First names, first surname, and the initial of the second surname followed by a period. Aligned to the right. Pen names will be respected, including the use of hyphens between surnames. The order of the authors will be kept as submitted, with the first author considered the lead author.
Author information: In footnotes, using consecutive Arabic numbers, the following details must be included for each author: profession, academic degrees, professional affiliation (institutions with which they are associated), current position, city, country, and e-mail (of the main author or corresponding author).
Abstract: Length between 150 and 250 words in both Spanish and English.
Keywords: 3 to 7 words that clearly identify the content of the article. Use terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) list of Index Medicus or LILACS to facilitate indexing in databases and cite the source. Links to search for keywords: Spanish; English.
Acknowledgements: Include the name, affiliation, and type of contribution of those who collaborated in the manuscript but are not considered authors. Named individuals must give their consent, and the author is responsible for obtaining written permission.
Conflicts of Interest: Notes on any personal or institutional relationships that may affect the execution, results, or interpretation of the work.
In-text citation of references: Each bibliographic reference should be cited in the text with an Arabic numeral in parentheses, in the order they appear.
References: References should follow APA style, as adopted by the journal Physical Activity and Human Development.
Tables: Tables must be self-explanatory and should not duplicate the text. Their role is to complement or substitute it. Tables must include: Table, sequential number, title, body, notes, column and row titles, and source. Abbreviations in headings must be explained in a footnote and identified using lowercase superscript letters. Use only horizontal lines.
Table citation: Each table must be cited in the text using an Arabic number in parentheses, in order of appearance. Example: (Table 1).
Figures: Include graphs, photos, maps, diagrams, drawings, etc., used to illustrate or expand the information. Each figure must have a caption as follows: Figure, sequential number, title, optional notes, and source (citation or copyright information). Figures created in Word are part of the text; otherwise, they should be inserted into the document and also submitted as separate high-resolution (300 dpi) JPG files, properly identified.
Figure citation: Each figure must be cited in the text in order of appearance, in parentheses. Example: (Figure 1).
Abbreviations: When necessary, abbreviations must be preceded by their full expanded form in parentheses upon first mention. Avoid using abbreviations in the title or abstract.
Units of measurement: Use metric units (meter, kilogram, liter, etc.) in accordance with the International System of Units. Unit abbreviations should not be pluralized or punctuated.
Decimals: Use a comma (,) to indicate decimals.
Percentages: No space should be used between the number and the percentage symbol. Example: 23.5%
