Sustainable urban criteria based on an examination of the habitat on the outskirts of the city of Pamplona (North Santander)

The growth of Colombian cities in peripheral areas has impacted the ways in which space is produced and has introduced significant changes in terms of habitat and the environment. These impacts are associated with the intensification of socio-spatial segregation and pressure on natural resources, leading to environmental deterioration. Based on an examination of the habitat on the outskirts of the city of Pamplona, specific problems and potentialities of the territory are identified, allowing for the proposal of guidelines and strategies based on criteria of urban sustainability for local development. This examination is carried out from a participatory approach, that is, internally from the reality of its inhabitants, and externally, through the intervention of different urban actors from the academic, political, and institutional spheres
