The Journal Investigación & Praxis in Social Sciences, Vol. 5, No. 1 (2026), establishes itself as a space for critical reflection on the structural transformations of contemporary society, articulating in this issue a diverse perspective on current challenges at the intersection of classical thought, geopolitical tensions, and technological disruption. The edition is organized around three major axes: the crisis of democracy and memory, the reconfiguration of pedagogical models, and the ethical dimension of the social subject. First, it addresses the relationship between power, narrative, and legitimacy through a reinterpretation of Oedipus Rex, examining the erosion of authority in modern democracies, as well as the analysis of historical revisionism as a tool of polarization in Latin America. Second, it reflects on pedagogy in the context of liquid modernity and artificial intelligence, revisiting the pedagogical naturalism of Rousseau and Pestalozzi as an alternative to rigid competency-based models, while also outlining the challenges posed by AI and the need to strengthen critical thinking, including film and community audiovisual practices as strategies for rebuilding the social fabric. Finally, the issue situates itself within the geopolitical and ethical dimension of the human condition, highlighting a study of pendular migration along the Colombia–Venezuela border between 2020 and 2025, and concluding with a reflection on compassion as a human faculty with conceptual foundations and an ethical projection essential for coexistence.
