Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the dynamics of pendular migration along the Colombian– Venezuelan border and its socioeconomic impact during the period from 2020 to 2025. To this end, a qualitative study with a descriptive-comparative design is conducted, based on documentary analysis of migratory flows and regional economic indicators. The results show that pendular migration operates as a subsistence mechanism that stimulates informal cross-border trade, while simultaneously generating asymmetric pressure on public services in cities such as Cúcuta and Villa del Rosario. In conclusion, it is argued that border management should shift from security-centered approaches toward models of productive integration that recognize human mobility as a key factor in regional development
