This article establishes a rigorous conceptualization of compassion as an integral human faculty that articulates the cognitive recognition of others' suffering, affective involvement, and practical orientation toward the good of others. Starting with a clear definition of the concept, a semantic, anthropological, and ethical analysis is conducted, followed by a critical comparison with classical and contemporary philosophical traditions. Finally, the article emphasizes the relevance of its academic, educational, and institutional use in the context of higher education and in accordance with quality and accreditation criteria. Compassion is conceived as the foundation of professional ethical training and as a just response to human vulnerability.
