Analysis of the Coffee Production Process in the Municipality of Chinácota, Norte de Santander

Coffee production in Colombia currently represents one of the main sources of income for farmers. In particular, coffee cultivation in Norte de Santander, specifically in the municipality of Chinácota, is not as well-known nationwide, as social conflicts in the area interfere with the development of coffee production. Therefore, an analysis of the production process carried out by coffee growers is intended. As a strategy to reach the target audience of the research, information was collected through a survey applied to coffee consumers in the municipality, gathering data such as their preferences and factors that influence local consumption. Additionally, respondents were subtly asked if they were involved in coffee cultivation, with the aim of obtaining information that would enable the characterization of the coffee production system. As partial results, a matrix was obtained that encompasses the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats currently facing the coffee growers in the area. This analysis is viewed from the consumer's perspective, a fundamental aspect of any production process, where factors that could be improved or replaced to increase the quality and acceptability of the product in the local and regional market are identified.
