The Research & Praxis Journal in Social Sciences is an open-access scientific publication edited by the University of Pamplona. Its aim is to disseminate original and relevant research in areas such as Social Sciences, Anthropology, Education, History, and Geography. The journal publishes research articles, innovations, reviews, and reflections in these areas of knowledge.
The articles are available on the Journal's platform, hosted at https://ojs.unipamplona.edu.co/index.php/ripcs/index, and do not entail any associated costs in the submission, review, editing, or publication process. This is because the journal is funded by the publishing institution, the University of Pamplona. The Research & Praxis Journal in Social Sciences is published biannually, providing a continuous space for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of knowledge in these disciplines.
The Research & Praxis Journal in Social Sciences has an Editorial Committee that dictates and endorses the content to be included in its different issues. In the evaluation and assessment process, the journal employs the double-blind peer review model, meaning that authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process. This same model is applied to articles submitted by members of the Editorial Committee. In these cases, such members cannot participate in any phase of the work review.
Only unpublished works are considered for evaluation, i.e., those that have not been published in any scientific or informative medium. However, the journal will publish articles previously disseminated in scientific events, provided that the full text has not been published in the event proceedings. By submitting an article, authors guarantee that they do not infringe any copyright and that the work has not been published elsewhere nor is it being evaluated for publication in another printed or electronic publication.
Due to the high number of articles received for publication, the journal reserves the right to reject an article without subjecting it to peer review or for non-compliance with author guidelines, according to the preliminary review by the Editorial Committee. It is important to note that a translation is not considered an article, nor are revisions that do not present innovation on the analyzed topic.
EDITORIAL PROCESS
To ensure the quality and integrity of the published articles, the Research & Praxis Journal in Social Sciences has established a rigorous editorial process. Authors interested in submitting their work to the journal should take into account the following:
-
Article Submission and Originality Statement: Authors must submit their articles through the Journal's OJS platform, available at https://ojs.unipamplona.edu.co/index.php/ripcs/index, attaching a statement of originality stating that the submitted manuscript has been approved by all authors.
-
Language and Document Quality: Documents submitted for publication must be written in Spanish or English and must be communicable in terms of coherence, cohesion, clarity, conciseness, relevance, and centrality.
-
Review and Evaluation: The receipt of an article does not guarantee its immediate publication. Before being considered for publication, each article will undergo a review and evaluation process that may take between six and twelve weeks, depending on the demand and editorial flow of the journal.
-
Editorial Team Review: The Editorial Team will review the article to verify compliance with the journal's author guidelines. If the article does not comply with these guidelines, it will be returned to the authors. Additionally, a similarity analysis will be performed using specialized software. If a significant match is found, the article will be rejected.
-
Peer Review: If the article passes the Editorial Team's review, it will be sent for evaluation by at least two expert reviewers in the article's subject matter, under the double-blind review model. These reviewers will provide feedback on the originality and quality of the work, using predefined criteria: approved, approved with changes, or rejected.
-
Peer-Recommended Modifications: If reviewers suggest changes (approved with changes), the Editor will notify the authors and grant them a deadline to submit the corrected article, along with a document responding to each of the reviewers' comments. The Editorial Committee will assess the proposed corrections, and if necessary, the article will be returned to the authors for revision. If the reviewers reject the article, it cannot be resubmitted to the journal unless the Editor approves it after a claims process according to established policies.
-
Style Correction and Layout: Approved articles will undergo a style correction and layout process. The final layout version will be sent to the author for approval or for additional comments. Once the suggested modifications by the authors, if any, are applied, the article will be assigned to an issue of the journal according to its schedule.
-
The Editorial Committee reserves the right not to publish works that do not meet the established conditions or that do not incorporate the corrections suggested by the evaluators within the established deadline. Additionally, once the manuscript is submitted for evaluation, the inclusion or exclusion of authors will not be allowed.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Research & Praxis Journal in Social Sciences is firmly committed to ethics in research and academic publication. In this regard, it adheres to the Good Practices Guide for Journal Editors and the ethical provisions of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), as well as the provisions of Statutory Law 1266 of 2008 for the handling of personal information in databases.
The following ethical considerations are highlighted for authors:

-
Declaration of Originality: All authors must declare that the content of the article is original, has not been previously published, and is not being considered for publication in any other printed or electronic medium.
-
Participation in Research: Every person listed as an author of a work must have actively participated in the research process and in the preparation of the material submitted to the Journal. Those who have only participated partially may be listed in the acknowledgments section.
-
Conflicts of Interest: When an author is a member of the Journal's Editorial Board, they will be disqualified from participating in the review and decision-making process regarding their own work.
