This document presents the design of an electric propulsion system for a metro-type transport. For this design, a route was proposed that evaluates the energy demand of passenger mobility in the city of Villavicencio (Colombia). The foregoing allows choosing the technical characteristics necessary to satisfy the quality of the service provided. For this, a mathematical model of the longitudinal dynamics of the vehicle was exposed, which studies the forces of interaction through Gillespie simulation, obtaining relevant information on its behavior compared to its operation, the above is determined by means of a computer simulation. The energy study performs the reading of the altimetry data of the chosen route, together with the inclination angles, through the variation of heights and distances. The simulated simulation executes the different data of the chosen train together with its respective trailer, following the trajectory of the chosen route, in order to quantify the forces, power and energy necessary to carry out the total route.
