The development of language is closely linked to the development of thought and follows a series of systematic and sequential stages or stages, which allow a certain degree of maturity and independence to be achieved. Sometimes there are difficulties that interfere with language development, one of the most frequent causes in infants is simple language delay. This manuscript seeks to systematize the clinical professional experience, with a 5-year-old male user, during which a question arose: What is the symbolism and abstraction of concepts like in a semantic deficit? To answer this question, it was necessary to use two lines of force such as Jean Piaget and Jerome Bruner, who focus on a psychocognitive approach.
Thanks to the application of methods such as the E.L.C.E, token test, terman and merril and the bases of the lines of force, it was possible to obtain results that answered the question, determining that simple language delay affects the development of thought, causing The transition between sensorimotor and conceptual intelligence does not occur correctly, affecting the representation of symbolic thought and the abstraction of concepts. Which affects the user's proper development at a communicative level.
