Particularidades anatómicas de la cavidad oral en usuarios con características específicas

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The research seeks to answer the target related to determining the anatomical peculiarities of the oral cavity users with specific characteristics. METHODS: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, in which the anatomical features of the oral cavity were determined, based on the measures proposed by Pont and modified by Korkhaus. As target population worked with 10 children aged between 7 and 11 years. RESULTS: The results are presented by population subgroup, starting with users with neurological disorder, then users with reconstructive surgery of cleft lip-pa-late, followed by users with intraoral anatomic abnormality; finally, the results of subjects without intraoral anatomical alteration present. ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION: The literature is consistent in the positive relationship between the diseases studied neurologically based and associated with craniofacial abnormalities and intraoral findings reported an altered growth pattern probably due to the late development of these structures CONCLUSIONS: In the study, the research subjects have occlusal deficiencies for population segments categorized with and without anatomical changes, revealing the need to reconfigure the current understanding of the intimate and indirect association between morphological and physiological processes of chewing mechanisms and swallowing.
