Optimización perioperatoria en el paciente con dolor crónico: una revisión reflexiva

El dolor crónico es una entidad interseccional cuyo impacto ha ganado más tracción luego de la pandemia por el COVID-19. La optimización previa a una cirugía en este tipo de pacientes representa retos logísticos, sociales y económicos. Este estudio explora la implementación de Programas de Optimización Perioperatoria (POP) como enfoque integral para mejorar la atención y los resultados en estos pacientes. Se realizó una revisión reflectiva de diversos artículos disponibles en bases de datos científicas, planes de acción y protocolos tanto en español como en inglés, a fin de evaluar la importancia de la optimización perioperatoria e identificar la evidencia existente para optimizar el estado prequirúrgico en pacientes de dolor crónico. La implementación de un enfoque perioperatorio integral mejora la recuperación y disminuye los riesgos en pacientes con dolor crónico. Estos programas son fundamentales para optimizar la atención quirúrgica y promover una recuperación más rápida y segura.
