Heredia Declaration

The journal Ciencias Básicas en Salud adopts and adheres to the Heredia Declaration: Principles on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Publishing as a reference framework to guide the ethical, responsible, and transparent use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in its editorial processes.

This adherence entails the journal’s commitment to scientific integrity, human accountability, process traceability, and the protection of intellectual property, recognizing that AI constitutes a technical support tool and not a substitute for expert judgment.

Scope of the Adherence

In accordance with the principles of the Heredia Declaration, the journal Ciencias Básicas en Salud establishes that:

  • Authorship, peer review, and editorial decision-making are exclusively human responsibilities.
  • The use of AI tools must be explicitly and transparently declared.
  • The use of AI does not exempt authors, reviewers, or editors from ethical or academic responsibility.
  • Bias, misinformation, and practices that compromise scientific quality must be prevented.
  • Human well-being and the quality of knowledge prevail over automation.
