ACTIVIDAD FÍSICA EN MUJERES SOBREVIVIENTES DE CÁNCER DE MAMA: UN TEMA RELEVANTE PARA EL BUEN PRONÓSTICO

Introducción: el cáncer de mama es una neoplasia con una alta carga de enfermedad en las
mujeres, sin embargo, la práctica de actividad física puede prevenir su reincidencia y
mejorar la calidad de vida. Objetivo: documentar los beneficios de la práctica de actividad
física. Metodología: búsqueda documental en bases de datos, recuperando artículos en
inglés de los últimos 10 años excluyendo reportes y series de casos, así como editoriales.
Resultado: El ejercicio físico en pacientes con cáncer de mama ha demostrado ser seguro
durante y después del tratamiento, ofreciendo una serie de beneficios como la reducción de
la mortalidad por todas las causas y específicamente por cáncer, así como mejoras en la
calidad de vida y la funcionalidad. Sin embargo, a pesar de estos beneficios, solo un
pequeño porcentaje de pacientes participa en niveles adecuados de actividad física según
las recomendaciones médicas, las cuales corresponden a las brindadas internacionalmente
para la población general entre 18-65 años. Conclusión: La práctica de actividad física en la
población es segura y se asocia a un factor protector para diversos desenlaces en salud, sin
embargo, es necesario realizar una individualizada para que sea una estrategia coadyuvante
en el tratamiento mejorando el pronóstico.
