Style Guidelines

 

ARTICLE SUBMISSION

General Parameters: The article must be submitted in letter size (21.5 x 28.0 cm); double-spaced; Margins: 4 cm on the left and 3 cm on the other sides; Page numbering: On all pages, in the lower right corner of each page; Font: Times New Roman; Font size: 12.

Headings: Aligned to the left and in uppercase for the following sections: Title in Spanish and English, Author's name, Abstract, Keywords, Resumen, Palabras clave, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, Conflicts of Interest, References and Annexes. Other titles and subtitles should be in lowercase (with the first letter capitalized), aligned to the left.

Maximum Length of the Article: 30 pages.

Title: Short but informative. Must be limited to 15 words. Centered in uppercase.

Author Names: First name(s), first surname, and the initial of the second surname followed by a period. Aligned to the right. Pen names (e.g., hyphenated surnames) will be respected. The order of authors will be as submitted, assuming the first is the principal author.

Author Information: In a footnote, using consecutive Arabic numerals, provide the following for each author: Profession, academic degrees, institutional affiliation, current position, city, country, and e-mail (either for the main author or the one responsible for correspondence).

Abstract: Between 150 and 250 words in both Spanish and English.

Keywords: 3 to 7 keywords that clearly identify the article’s content. Use terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) of Index Medicus or LILACS for indexing. Links for keyword selection: http://decs.bvs.br/E/homepagee.htm (Spanish); http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ (English).

Acknowledgements: Include name, affiliation, and type of contribution from collaborators who are not listed as authors. All individuals named must have given written permission to be acknowledged, for which the author is responsible.

Conflicts of Interest: Disclose any personal or institutional relationships that could influence the study’s conduct, results, or interpretation.

Citation of References: Each reference must be cited in the text using a consecutive Arabic number in parentheses.

References: The journal *Actividad Física y Desarrollo Humano* follows APA style guidelines for references.

Tables: Tables should be self-explanatory and should not duplicate the text. Each table must include: Table number, Title, Body, Notes, Row and column headings, and Source. Abbreviations in headings must be explained in a footnote using lowercase superscript letters. Only horizontal lines should be used in the table layout.

Table Citation: Tables must be cited in the text with a consecutive Arabic number in parentheses. Example: (Table 1).

Figures: Figures include charts, photos, maps, diagrams, and illustrations used to complement the text. Each must include: Figure number, Title, Optional Notes, and Source or copyright information. Figures can be created in Word or inserted as high-resolution (300 dpi) JPG files, submitted separately and clearly labeled.

Figure Citation: Figures must be cited in the text in order of appearance, using Arabic numbers in parentheses. Example: (Figure 1).

Abbreviations: Use only when necessary. The full term must be given the first time, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Avoid abbreviations in titles and abstracts.

Units of Measurement: Use metric units (meter, kilogram, liter, etc.), following the International System of Units (SI), whose abbreviations do not use plurals or punctuation.

Decimals: Use a comma (,) to indicate decimals.

Percentages: Write without a space between the number and the percentage symbol. Example: 23.5%.
