Abstract

Computational models are useful tools in most areas of knowledge and can be easily used to visualize the behavior of complex systems frequently encountered in everyday scientific work. This paper presents a simple model to simulate the transport phenomenon, described through the leaching and degradation of contaminants in soil. This information is often required for the official regulation of pesticides. The model will be implemented in Matlab and should feature a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows for easy modification of the model’s various parameters and provides graphical representations of the results. Different potential applications of the model are also proposed for practical classes in water, air, and soil modeling; soil chemistry; soil physical chemistry; and soil conservation.
