Turnitin Tools
Turnitin Similarity Check
The Journal of Human Care and Occupation (RCOH) uses Turnitin to verify the originality of submitted manuscripts and promote good practices in scientific publishing. Similarity verification is an essential part of the editorial process and contributes to ensuring the academic integrity of published works.
1. Purpose of the Similarity Check
The purpose of the similarity analysis is to ensure that submitted manuscripts demonstrate an appropriate level of originality and proper use of bibliographic sources. The journal establishes a recommended maximum similarity index of 17%.
2. Recommendations for Authors
- Review the manuscript before submission: Carefully review the manuscript to ensure the correct use of citations, references, and paraphrasing.
- Proper citation: All information obtained from other sources must be appropriately cited and referenced according to the current APA guidelines.
- Preliminary similarity check: Authors are encouraged to use similarity detection tools before submission to identify potential textual matches.
- Control the similarity index: Authors should maintain a similarity index below 17%. If the percentage exceeds this threshold, the highlighted sections should be revised and corrected before submission.
3. Editorial Process
The Editorial Team will review the similarity report generated by Turnitin during the initial editorial evaluation. Manuscripts exceeding the recommended similarity threshold will be carefully examined to determine the nature of the similarities and assess whether they correspond to properly cited material, standard methodological descriptions, or potential originality concerns.
4. Commitment to Academic Integrity
The Journal of Human Care and Occupation (RCOH) is committed to promoting research ethics and academic integrity. The Editorial Team appreciates the cooperation of authors in preparing original, responsible manuscripts that respect copyright and intellectual property rights. Authors may contact the Editorial Office with any questions regarding their similarity report.
Important Notes
- A similarity index higher than 17% does not automatically result in manuscript rejection. When necessary, the Editorial Committee may request clarifications, revisions, or corrections before continuing the editorial process.
- Turnitin is a tool designed to support similarity verification and promote academic integrity. It is not intended to evaluate the scientific quality, methodological rigor, or academic merit of a manuscript.
