Style Guidelines
Style Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Human Care and Occupation (RCOH) must strictly comply with these style guidelines. Failure to meet the formal requirements may result in the manuscript being returned without entering the editorial review process.
1. Manuscript Format
The manuscript must be prepared in Microsoft Word and comply with the following technical specifications:
- Paper size: Letter (21.5 × 28 cm).
- Font: Arial, 12-point.
- Line spacing: 1.5.
- Maximum length: 15 pages. Manuscripts exceeding this limit will not be considered for review.
The manuscript must be written in the third person. Proper use of capital letters with diacritical marks is recommended, and words or expressions in other languages should be written in italics.
2. Accepted Types of Articles
The Journal of Human Care and Occupation (RCOH) accepts the following types of manuscripts:
- Scientific or technological research articles.
- Reflection articles.
- Review articles.
- Clinical case reports.
3. General Structure of the Manuscript
3.1 Article Header
a) Title
The title must clearly and accurately describe the content of the manuscript, allowing readers to identify the subject addressed.
b) Authors
- Full names in the order of publication.
- Institutional affiliation (institution, city, and country).
- Institutional or academic e-mail address.
- ORCID identifier.
Extended administrative information about the authors and the statement regarding the origin of the manuscript must be completed exclusively in the journal's official forms and should not be included in the manuscript.
c) Abstract (Spanish and English)
Maximum 250 words. It must include:
- Object of study and objectives.
- Main theoretical foundations.
- Methodology.
- General results and main conclusions.
d) Keywords
Between 4 and 6 keywords in Spanish and English, standardized according to DeCS (Health Sciences Descriptors).
4. Structure According to Article Type
- Scientific or technological research articles: Introduction, theoretical framework, methodology, results and discussion, conclusions, and references.
- Reflection articles: Introduction, theoretical framework, discussion, and references.
- Review articles: Introduction, theoretical framework, theoretical development, and references.
- Clinical case reports: Introduction, clinical description, therapeutic management, conclusions, and references.
5. Figures and Tables
- Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and include a title at the top.
- All figures and tables must be explicitly cited in the text.
- The total number of figures and tables should not exceed the equivalent of two pages in the Results section.
- Figures must be numbered (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc.), include a descriptive title and source, and be submitted in PDF, JPG, or PNG format.
- Tables must be numbered (Table 1, Table 2, etc.) and include a title above the table.
- Patient photographs must preserve privacy and confidentiality.
- Images of minors must comply with current legal regulations.
- Figures reproduced from other sources require proper citation and written permission from the copyright holder.
6. References and Citation
- Current APA standards must be followed.
- All citations must appear in the article footnotes.
- References must be listed alphabetically. Research articles should include approximately 20 references, while review articles should include at least 50.
- Author notes should be brief and numbered consecutively.
- Complete and verifiable bibliographic information must be provided.
Final Note
Submission of a manuscript implies full acceptance of these guidelines. The journal reserves the right to make editorial style adjustments whenever necessary.
