Abstract

The Revista Cuidado y Ocupación Humana continues to consolidate itself as an essential open-access digital scientific dissemination platform, created by the Nursing and Occupational Therapy programs of Universidad de Pamplona and currently led by the latter. Its purpose is clear: to give visibility to the results of original and innovative research through publications evaluated by expert peer reviewers, ensuring quality, rigor, and scientific relevance. In this way, the journal highlights the academic and professional work of researchers, professors, and students who contribute to the enrichment of the health sciences, education, social sciences, and humanities.

In a world shaped by social, economic, and occupational transformations, new ways of thinking about and conducting science are required. Globalization, health crises, and the changing demands of society compel institutions and academic programs to redefine their curricula and approaches. In this context, research emerges as a driving force for change, promoting innovation, academic development, and the generation of useful and contextualized knowledge capable of overcoming geographical barriers through information and communication.

This issue of the journal presents a diverse collection of articles addressing contemporary challenges from critical, ethical, and transformative perspectives. Featured studies examine the performance of occupational roles among incarcerated women, occupational participation in diverse prison populations, and teachers’ perceptions regarding the school role of children living in contexts affected by armed conflict. Other studies explore the impact of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) on school performance, the implementation of the Kangaroo Mother Program, the multidisciplinary management of complex conditions such as giant leiomyoma, and the effects of the pandemic on collective mental health.
