Editorial Policy

Revista Colombiana de Tecnologías de Avanzada (RCTA) establishes this Editorial Policy to ensure the transparency, independence, integrity, and quality of its editorial process. The journal conducts its editorial activities in accordance with internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing, following the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, and the editorial quality criteria promoted by leading international scientific indexing systems.

Section I. Purpose of the Editorial Policy

This Editorial Policy defines the journal's editorial governance structure, the principles guiding its editorial management, and the general responsibilities of the actors involved in the editorial process of the Revista Colombiana de Tecnologías de Avanzada (RCTA). Its purpose is to ensure that all editorial decisions are made independently, objectively, transparently, and on the basis of scientific merit.

Section II. Editorial Principles

The journal's editorial management is guided by the following principles:

  • Editorial independence.
  • Scientific integrity.
  • Objectivity and impartiality throughout the editorial process.
  • Transparency in editorial management and decision-making.
  • Confidentiality of all information submitted for evaluation.
  • Commitment to publication ethics.
  • Continuous improvement of the journal's editorial and scientific quality.

Section III. Editorial Governance

The editorial structure of the Revista Colombiana de Tecnologías de Avanzada (RCTA) is composed exclusively of the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Committee, the External Reviewers, and the Editorial Assistant, who perform complementary responsibilities to ensure the quality, transparency, and efficiency of the editorial process.

  • Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief is the highest editorial authority of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for supervising the entire editorial process, ensuring compliance with the journal's editorial policies, and making the final editorial decision regarding submitted manuscripts, taking into account the recommendations provided by the External Reviewers and the support of the Editorial Committee.
  • Editorial Committee. The Editorial Committee supports the Editor-in-Chief throughout the editorial process, provides advice on scientific and methodological matters when required, and contributes to strengthening the journal's editorial quality. The Editorial Committee does not constitute an independent editorial decision-making body.
  • External Reviewers. External Reviewers are independent experts invited by the journal to evaluate submitted manuscripts through the double-blind peer review process. Their review reports and recommendations support the editorial decision-making process of the Editor-in-Chief and do not constitute final editorial decisions.
  • Editorial Assistant. The Editorial Assistant supports the administrative and operational management of the editorial process by receiving manuscripts, conducting document verification, managing the editorial platform, communicating with authors and reviewers, monitoring editorial workflows, and providing operational support to the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Committee. The Editorial Assistant does not participate in editorial decision-making.

Section IV. Editorial Authority and Independence

The final editorial decision regarding the acceptance, revision, or rejection of a manuscript rests exclusively with the Editor-in-Chief, who exercises this responsibility with editorial independence, objectivity, and impartiality. Editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality of the manuscript, its relevance to the journal's scope, methodological rigor, and the recommendations issued during the peer review process.

Editorial decisions shall be made free from institutional, commercial, financial, or personal influences that could compromise the integrity of the editorial process.

Section V. Editorial Transparency

The Revista Colombiana de Tecnologías de Avanzada maintains a permanent commitment to transparency in its editorial processes. The journal's peer review procedure, publication ethics guidelines, open access policy, copyright policy, digital preservation policy, and other editorial policies are publicly available on the journal's official website and constitute complementary documents to this Editorial Policy.
