Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The journal Engineering, Sustainability and Society adopts ethical principles aimed at ensuring scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and good academic publishing practices.
I. Publication
- Submission of a manuscript implies acceptance of the journal’s ethical and editorial policies.
- All articles are evaluated through peer review by at least two international expert reviewers.
- The evaluation considers criteria such as scientific quality, relevance, originality, innovation, pertinence, and clarity of academic language.
- Editorial decisions may correspond to acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.
- Peer review does not guarantee manuscript acceptance.
- No manuscript will be rejected without prior editorial evaluation.
II. Authorship
- Articles must include relevant and properly cited bibliographic references.
- Authors must declare funding sources and institutional support related to the research.
- Manuscripts must be original and free of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or fraudulent data.
- The journal does not publish works previously published or simultaneously submitted to other publications.
III. Authors’ Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that:
- Submitted works are original and unpublished.
- All sources used are properly identified.
- Presented data are real, verifiable, and authentic.
- All co-authors significantly contributed to the research.
- Any conflict of interest related to the manuscript is disclosed.
Authors are also expected to actively participate in the review process, make the requested corrections, and promptly report any errors identified in published articles.
IV. Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Reviewers must conduct objective, impartial, and confidential evaluations. In addition, reviewers must:
- Possess the academic background and expertise necessary to evaluate the manuscript.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest.
- Provide clear and technically supported comments.
- Identify possible bibliographic omissions, relevant similarities, or conduct contrary to scientific ethics.
V. Editors’ Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for ensuring scientific quality, editorial integrity, and ethical compliance in publications. Their responsibilities include:
- Making objective and well-founded editorial decisions.
- Preserving the anonymity and confidentiality of the editorial process.
- Ensuring that manuscripts comply with international ethical standards.
- Promoting corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
- Avoiding conflicts of interest related to evaluated manuscripts.
The Editor-in-Chief has final authority regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts, considering the opinions issued by reviewers and members of the editorial committee.
VI. Publication Ethics
The journal’s editorial and scientific team is committed to:

- Maintaining high scientific and academic standards.
