Turnitin Tool
Author Guidelines: Similarity Verification
The journal Ciencia y Tecnología Agropecuaria (CYTA) uses the Turnitin tool to verify manuscript similarity, ensuring originality, academic integrity, and scientific ethics in all its publications.
Objective
The similarity verification aims to ensure that submitted articles are original and do not exceed a 17% similarity index with other sources, thus maintaining the authenticity of the content.
Recommendations for Authors
- Pre-submission review: Check the manuscript before submission to ensure proper use of citations and references.
- Awareness of similarity: Avoid unnecessary similarities resulting from direct quotations or paraphrasing.
- Use of tools: Authors are encouraged to perform a preliminary similarity check using available detection software before submission.
- Acceptable threshold: Keep similarity below 17%; if exceeded, review and revise the highlighted sections identified by Turnitin.
Editorial Process
The Editorial Committee reviews Turnitin reports during the initial evaluation. Manuscripts exceeding the established threshold may be returned for revision or assessed in detail depending on the nature of the similarities.
Important Note
- A similarity level above 17% does not automatically imply rejection but requires justification by the authors.
- Turnitin is a support tool designed to promote academic integrity and prevent plagiarism.
