Abstract

The present project has as a first instance a theoretical review on non-adherence to drug treatment in hypertensive patients and the factors that influence this non-adherence; with a five-year history; The objective of this study is to determine the main factors that influence non-adherence to treatment in patients with hypertension in adulthood and old age, then a measurement instrument focused on hypertensive older adults attending a primary care center was determined. ; in order to establish the type of adherence they maintain on the treatment. The methodology used was carried out through a search for scientific articles in these electronic journals such as: Scielo, PudMed; the Sevier and Google academic in a time of approximately two months, in order to obtain a research of mixed investigative approach. In the results it was analyzed that among the influencing factors we can mention the lack of education on the part of the health personnel, the educational level, the socioeconomic level of the patients; In addition, according to the 5th technical report of the Ministry of Health of 2015, it mentions that: "The increase in prevalence is associated with other factors such as aging that leads to comorbidities, sedentary life, poor eating habits and stress" . In conclusion, one of the main causes of ineffective treatment non-adherence in patients with arterial hypertension is due to inefficient patient follow-up and insufficient knowledge by health professionals about arterial hypertension and its therapy.
