reviewer guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to the CIE. Knowledge, Research, and Education Peer-Reviewed Journal for publication are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. A double-blind peer review model is adopted to preserve the anonymity of both the authors and the reviewers. Carefully selected comments from reviewers like you are a valuable guide for editors when making decisions about manuscript acceptance.

Reviewer Selection

When selecting reviewers, we ensure that they meet the following criteria:

  • Appropriate expertise to assess the manuscript.
  • Adequate academic experience to review the manuscript, typically a doctoral degree is expected.
  • Experience in the specific subject area.
  • Absence of conflicts of interest with the authors.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers who agree to review a manuscript have the responsibility to:

  • Declare conflicts of interest before beginning the review.
  • Decline an invitation promptly if unavailable, and if possible, recommend alternative reviewers.
  • Complete the review and submit the report within the expected timeframe.
  • Evaluate the manuscript impartially and provide a detailed report with specific comments.
  • Report any suspected misconduct to the editors for further investigation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of assigned manuscripts.

To maintain an efficient and effective peer review process, as well as smooth editorial services, we appreciate reviewers taking a few minutes to read the following guidelines.

We strictly adhere to the criteria specified by COPE, for ethical academic publishing with maximum transparency. Therefore, we expect reviewers who accept to perform reviews to follow ethical requirements. We recommend that reviewers consult the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Reviewers when reviewing manuscripts submitted to the CIE. Knowledge, Research, and Education Peer-Reviewed Journal.

Timeliness of Response

Prompt communication between the journal and reviewers is essential to facilitate a consistent, fair, and timely review of manuscripts. We expect reviewers to:

  • Accept or decline an invitation to review promptly.
  • Return a review within the proposed timeframe.
  • Suggest relevant alternative reviewers if unable to review.

If circumstances change and you cannot meet your original agreement or need an extension, notify the journal immediately.

Potential Conflicts of Interest

It is essential that reviewers provide impartial feedback. Before reviewing, reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest related to the manuscript. Conflicts of interest may be personal, intellectual, professional, or political in nature. If unsure whether a conflict exists that may prevent you from reviewing, notify the journal and seek guidance.

Confidentiality

Respect the confidentiality of the peer review process, and the manuscript information should not be used or distributed, in whole or in part, until the article is published. Reviewers must also ensure they do not reveal their identity to the authors.

Reviewers must prepare their own reports and are not allowed to impersonate others during the review process. If you wish to invite others to participate in the peer review process, you must request prior approval from the journal's editorial office. The names of people who contributed to the review should be included in the signature of the review report.

Suspected Ethical Violations

Reviewers must report any suspicion of misconduct to the editorial office for further investigation. For example, you may notice a significant amount of similarity between the manuscript you are reviewing and another manuscript submitted to a different journal simultaneously or a previously published manuscript. For any ethical concerns, please contact the editorial office directly via email.

Thorough Evaluation for Reviewers

To ensure a thorough and fair review of manuscripts, reviewers are required to complete an evaluation form covering the following essential aspects:

  • Originality and Authenticity: The results presented in the manuscript should be an original contribution by the authors, without resorting to plagiarism or data manipulation. Innovative ideas, approaches, or findings are highly valued.
  • Importance and Impact: The work should be relevant and interesting to the journal's readers, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
  • Scientific Rigor: The design and execution of the study should adhere to widely accepted technical standards. The conclusions should be supported by solid evidence, and the methodology should be clear and reproducible.
  • Ethics in Research: The study should have been conducted ethically and responsibly, especially when involving humans, animals, or other research subjects.
  • Language Quality: The manuscript should be written clearly and precisely in English, without spelling or grammatical errors, to ensure effective communication.

Reviewers are encouraged to provide constructive feedback to improve the quality and relevance of the reviewed manuscripts. Editors make decisions based on careful consideration of all reviewer comments, ensuring a fair and transparent editorial process.
