Style Guidelines

ARTICLE STRUCTURE

1. Article Heading.

1.1 Title. This should describe the content of the article clearly and precisely, so that the reader can easily identify the topic.

1.2 Author Information. It is essential to include full names and surnames of the author or authors, in the order in which they are to appear, and academic background. Likewise, the email of each author. In an additional file, Summary of the updated curriculum vitae that additionally includes address, city, phone, email, nationality, and ORCID of the participants.

1.3 Article Origin. It should be specified if the article is the product of research, a degree thesis, etc. If it is the result of research, the following should be indicated: project title, executing institution, project phase, start and end date.

Clinical cases can only list a maximum of three authors, including a treating professional.

1.4 Abstract in Spanish and English explaining the specific objectives and main conclusions of the work. (Maximum 300 words). It must cover the following aspects:

  • Brief description of the object of study, objectives, or purposes of the research.
  • Brief overview of the theories supporting the research.
  • Methodological aspects (type of research, procedure used, techniques and instruments) and general results.

1.5 Keywords in Spanish and English. Between 3 and 5 words registered as a DeCS descriptor.

 

2. Types and Format of Articles.

Articles accepted by the CBS Journal will be presented in their structure according to:

Scientific or technological research articles, reflection articles, and review articles. The above corresponds to the classification given by Publindex-Minciencias-Colombia.

In the general structure of an article in the arbitration process, writing will be taken into account; it should be written in the third person; it is recommended to use accents on capital letters; expressions in other languages should be edited in italics.

 

3. Structure of Different Types of Articles.

  • Scientific or Technological Research Articles: Introduction, theoretical framework, methodology, results and discussion, conclusions, and references.
  • Reflection Articles: Introduction, theoretical framework, discussion, and references.
  • Review Articles: Introduction, theoretical framework, theoretical development, and references.
  • Clinical Cases: Introduction, clinical description, therapeutic management, conclusions, and references.

 

4. Presentation Format.

The presentation format for articles must meet the following specifications:

  • Format: letter size sheet (21.5 x 28 cm).
  • Font: Arial 12.
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Processor: Word
  • Maximum extension of 15 pages. (Extensions beyond this lead to non-evaluation of the article).

 

5. Figures and Tables

Encode figures and tables with title and consecutive numbering at the top of each, so that, when mentioning them within the text, the relationship between the written and the respective scheme is coherent.

Drawings, graphs, and tables should be presented in the body of the text and additionally in an attached file in the original format in which it was created (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, paint, etc.).

Patient photographs should be modified to preserve patient privacy, and images of minors should comply with current legal regulations; Figures and graphs must be cited from the original source and present written permission from the copyright holder for the reproduction of the material. The number of graphs and tables should not exceed two pages in the presentation of the results.

 

6. Reference Presentation

  • APA referencing and citation standards.
  • Brief author notes (footnotes) with sequential numbering in the text.
  • Complete information in bibliographic references.
  • Bibliography in alphabetical order.
  • All citations made in the text should appear in the reference list.
