Turnitin Tool
Author Guidelines: Turnitin Similarity Check
1. Introduction:
The Colombian Journal of Advanced Technologies (RCTA) uses the Turnitin tool to verify the originality of manuscripts and uphold high standards of academic integrity. Authors must prepare their submissions according to these guidelines.
2. Purpose of the Similarity Check:
To ensure that manuscripts demonstrate an acceptable level of originality. The journal establishes a recommended similarity threshold of 17%.
3. Recommendations for Authors:
- Pre-submission review: Review the manuscript before submission, ensuring proper use of citations and references.
- Proper citation: Similarity may result from quotations, paraphrasing, or previous works. Verify correct attribution of all sources.
- Preliminary tools: Use text-checking tools to identify overlaps before submitting the manuscript.
- Similarity control: Keep the similarity below 17%. If the percentage is higher, revise and adjust the highlighted sections.
4. Editorial Process:
The editorial team will review the similarity report generated by Turnitin. Manuscripts exceeding 17% will be examined in detail to determine the nature of the overlaps.
5. Commitment to Academic Integrity:
The journal appreciates the collaboration of authors in ensuring the quality and originality of submitted manuscripts. For further inquiries, please contact the editorial team.
Important Notes:
- A similarity level above 17% does not imply immediate rejection; clarifications or revisions may be requested when necessary.
- Turnitin supports academic integrity but is not a tool for assessing scientific quality.
