Functions

  1. Report to the Publications Committee.
  2. Improve the journal’s dissemination and impact.
  3. Supervise editors and staff.
  4. Be accountable to authors, reviewers, readers, the scientific community, the publishing institution, and the general public.

Profile and Responsibilities

  1. Possess general scientific knowledge and skills in scientific writing and editing.
  2. Publish original and relevant articles.
  3. Meet publication deadlines, preferably under a continuous publishing model.
  4. Establish and update editorial policies.
  5. Communicate updates to the Publications Committee.
  6. Ensure maximum visibility of the journal.
  7. Preside over Editorial Team meetings.
  8. Handle complaints and ethical issues.
  9. Formulate and execute the annual budget.
  10. Represent the Editorial Committee in institutional negotiations.

Editorial Freedom

  • Full authority to determine the journal’s content.

Editor’s Term

  • Appointed for a defined number of years, renewable at the Committee’s discretion.

Editorial Ethics

  • Follows the recommendations of the Council of Science Editors and the White Paper on Publication Ethics.
