Use of Artificial Intelligence

The @Limentech Journal of Food Science and Technology permits the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support the research process and manuscript preparation. However, the use of such tools must be transparent and may not replace authorship, intellectual responsibility, or critical verification by the authors.

1. Authorship
AI tools may not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is strictly limited to natural persons who assume ethical, intellectual, and legal responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

2. Mandatory Disclosure of AI Use
Upon submission, authors are required to disclose whether AI tools were used at any stage of the work (information search, drafting, data analysis, image generation or editing, translation, language revision, etc.). The disclosure must specify: (a) the name and version of the tool(s) used; (b) the purpose and scope of the use; and (c) the section(s) of the manuscript in which the tool was applied.

3. Permitted Uses
The use of non-generative AI tools (e.g., spelling/grammar checkers, image enhancement software, data analysis tools) is permitted provided that their use is disclosed and does not compromise the integrity or accuracy of the data or the authors’ interpretations.

4. Restricted and Prohibited Uses
It is prohibited to use generative AI tools to draft substantive sections of the manuscript (introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions) without direct supervision and full responsibility by the authors. The generation or manipulation of research data using AI in a manner that compromises the accuracy or reproducibility of the study is not permitted. Images, figures, or graphics created wholly or partially by AI must be explicitly reported and their inclusion justified.

5. Verification and Responsibility
Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy, source validity, and reliability of all content, including that generated or assisted by AI. They must ensure that no fabricated citations, invented data, or unverifiable results derived from automated tools are included in the manuscript.

6. Originality Screening
All submitted manuscripts will be analyzed using Turnitin (licensed by the University of Pamplona). The maximum acceptable similarity index is below 20%. If this threshold is exceeded or evidence of undeclared automated writing is detected, the editorial committee may request clarification, require revisions, suspend the evaluation process, or reject the manuscript.

7. Disclosure Statement within the Manuscript
Authors are encouraged to include a section titled “Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools” at the end of the manuscript (before the references), briefly explaining which tools were used and for what purpose. Alternatively, this information may be included in the Methods or Acknowledgments section, provided it is clear and accessible to reviewers and readers.

8. Editorial Responsibility and Policy Review
The Editorial Committee of @Limentech reserves the right to request additional information regarding AI use, require corrections, reject manuscripts that violate this policy, or update these guidelines in accordance with evolving international standards in scholarly publishing.
