Abstract

The energy transition is a process that seeks to transform the current energy model based on fossil fuels into one that is more sustainable and respectful of the environment. This process is key to complying with international commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change. However, the energy transition involves great challenges at a technological, legal and financial level, which require the participation and coordination of all the actors involved. In the case of Colombia, the government has taken some initiatives to promote the development of sustainable energy, but there are still barriers and opportunities that must be taken advantage of to accelerate the process and ensure a fair and equitable transition. The transition to a low-carbon economy implies the progressive closure of mining activities that depend on fossil fuels. This situation entails a series of negative consequences for mining regions, which are affected by job loss, decreased income, deterioration of the social fabric and environmental degradation. This study was carried out through the expert panel methodology using Atlas Ti software for analysis.
