Coal biosulfurization: an environmentally viable alternative for reducing sulfur in coal

Given that the high sulfur content of coal used for thermal purposes generates atmospheric SO2 emissions and negatively affects its sale price, the search for alternatives to solve this problem is a constant concern for entities involved in coal mining, processing, and energy generation. This paper reviews the most recent results regarding coal biosulfurization as an alternative solution.
