Functions
- Report to the Publications Committee.
- Enhance the journal’s dissemination and impact.
- Supervise editors and staff.
- Be accountable to authors, reviewers, readers, the scientific community, the publishing institution, and the general public.
Profile and Responsibilities
- Possess broad scientific knowledge and skills in scientific writing and editing.
- Publish original and relevant articles.
- Comply with publication timelines, preferably under a continuous publication model.
- Establish and update editorial policies.
- Communicate updates to the Publications Committee.
- Ensure maximum journal visibility.
- Chair Editorial Team meetings.
- Handle complaints and ethical issues.
- Formulate and execute the annual budget.
- Represent the Editorial Committee in institutional negotiations.
Editorial Independence
- Full authority to determine the journal’s content.
Editor Term
- Appointed for a defined number of years, renewable at the Committee’s discretion.
Editorial Ethics
- Follows the recommendations of the Council of Science Editors and the White Paper on Publication Ethics.
