Gender Dilemmas in Childhood: Exploring Stereotypes in the Construction of Identity

This bibliographic review of recent literature provides a critical and updated perspective on constructing gender identity and roles in different contexts. This article examines how gender factors affect self-perception, socialization, and interaction with cultural and social environments from birth. It highlights that the sex assigned at birth establishes an essential identity trait, projecting social roles and expectations, and consolidating collective imaginaries of what is considered "appropriate" for each gender. These cultural constructions, present even before birth, shape aspects such as name selection, colors, games, and behavioral norms, creating an identity narrative aligned with the female-male binary.
