In the Municipality of Chitagá in Northern Santander a beginning of the cultivation of the Peach (variety ‘Jarillo’) was seen from the nineties on. A planting of approximately twelve (12) hectares transformed the life of the region and began the expansion process of the cultivation in the Department of Northern Santander, one of the principle production areas in the country. This economic process where these communities have seen the beginnings of the conditions causing change and in-roads of transformation and spontaneous generation of
elements that have arisen to persist and show expansion provoking synergies that catapult
improvements in the local ambience. It seems
to also show the transformation acting upon the farmers who integrate the economic system of
those small enterprising farmers who began to perceive the market conditions and are part of what has been denominated as an endogenous process of development.
