The objective of this study is to model the hydrological and hydraulic aspects of flood events in the Bogotá River within the sector between the municipalities of Tocancipá and Chía, in the upper part of the basin. The information was provided by the Corporación Autónoma Regional de Cundinamarca and IDEAM. The modeling involves the use of the HEC-RAS model and the linear water level dynamics model. The results show that the errors of the HEC-RAS model regarding the physical magnitude of the floodplains are significantly higher than the errors of models that do not use the flow variable.
