Author Guidelines: Similarity Verification with Turnitin

1.      Introduction:

Revista FACE deeply values originality and academic integrity in the publications it receives. To ensure quality and ethical standards in scientific production, we use the Turnitin tool as part of the manuscript similarity verification process. It is essential for authors to understand this procedure and work proactively to ensure that their submissions comply with the established originality criteria.

 

2. Purpose of the Similarity Verification:

The main purpose of the similarity check with Turnitin is to ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and do not exceed an acceptable level of similarity with other sources. A maximum similarity threshold of 15% is established to guarantee that the content is authentic and contributes new knowledge to the field of study.

3. Recomendaciones para los Autores:

  • Prior Review:  Before submitting a manuscript, it is recommended to conduct a thorough review to identify and correct possible similarities. This includes the proper use of citations and references to avoid unintended matches.
  • Proper Citation: Authors should be aware that similarity may arise from various sources, such as direct quotes, paraphrasing, and similarities with previous works. It is essential that all citations and references are correctly formatted and that the content maintains an original character.
  • Preliminary Tools: Authors are encouraged to use similarity-check tools available on various platforms before submitting their manuscript to the journal, in order to perform a preliminary review and avoid unwanted similarities.
  • Similarity Control: Authors should ensure that the similarity percentage does not exceed 15%. If the percentage is higher, they are expected to make the necessary revisions and adjust the sections indicated by Turnitin.

4. Editorial Process:

During the editorial evaluation process, the similarity reports generated by Turnitin will be reviewed by the editorial team. Manuscripts exceeding the 15% threshold will be analyzed in greater detail, which may lead to requests for adjustments from the authors.
