This article reflects on the issue of the lack of financial education among students in the global, Latin American, and Colombian contexts. It proposes a possible solution through the implementation of effective strategies aimed at improving students' financial skills, such as the initiative proposed by the Ministry of National Education, Fasecolda, and Asobancaria called “Nueva Pangea.” The information sources considered for this reflection were extracted from databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, EBSCO, Latindex, ProQuest, Publindex, and CvLAC, as well as from national and international institutions and organizations related to financial education, such as the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), the Financial Superintendence of Colombia (SFC), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The recognition of the problem and its potential solutions are presented. It is concluded that improving financial skills requires a joint commitment from the government, families, and educational institutions.
