Author Guidelines: Similarity Verification with Turnitin

1. Introduction:
Revista FACE values the originality and academic integrity of the manuscripts received. To ensure compliance with ethical standards and scientific quality, the journal uses Turnitin as the official tool for similarity verification. Authors are responsible for preparing their documents in accordance with these guidelines and ensuring that their submissions meet the established originality criteria.

2. Purpose of the Similarity Verification:
The primary purpose of the verification using Turnitin is to confirm that manuscripts are original and maintain an acceptable similarity level. The journal sets a maximum limit of 15% similarity to ensure that the content represents an authentic and novel contribution.

3. Recommendations for Authors:

  • Pre-review: Conduct a thorough review of the manuscript before submission, including verifying the proper use of citations, paraphrasing, and references.
  • Proper citation: Similarity may originate from direct quotes, paraphrasing, or matches with previous works. It is essential that all sources are correctly attributed and that the manuscript maintains an original contribution.
  • Preliminary tools: Use preliminary similarity checkers before the official submission to identify matches and correct them in advance.
  • Similarity control: Keep the similarity level below 15%. If this value is exceeded, make the necessary adjustments in the sections flagged by Turnitin.

4. Editorial Process:
During the editorial evaluation, the reports generated by Turnitin will be carefully reviewed. Manuscripts exceeding the 15% limit will undergo detailed analysis and may require clarifications or modifications from the authors.

5. Commitment to Academic Integrity:
Authors’ collaboration is essential to maintaining the ethical and quality standards of Revista FACE. Compliance with these guidelines strengthens trust in the editorial processes and in the scientific output published.

Important Notes:

  • A similarity level above 15% does not imply immediate rejection, but it will require adjustments, explanations, or a new analysis.
  • Turnitin is a similarity detection tool; it does not evaluate the scientific quality of the content. Link for information about similarity detection: https://www.turnitin.com
